Unfortunately, today’s racing at Lingfield was abandoned due to the overnight frost so both selections were void.
Ludlow 2:50 – Juvenile Hurdle 1m7f Class 4
Lots of focus will be on Alan King’s Fidux, having won on his stable/hurdling debut at Catterick in November. A narrow winner that day but will surely have improved although he will have to contain with a 7lb penalty.
Now I don’t normally like backing horses that fell last time out but Don Bersy was travelling nicely and had every chance when fell. The horse who was second that day was Final Choice trained by Warren Greatrex and he has gone on to win a better class race by 8L.
Don Bersy 3/1 WIN, 1 POINT
Dundalk 7:30 – Maiden 1m2f150y
A maiden at Dundalk isn’t normally my cup of tea, however this one has caught my attention.
I first noticed Mawaany back in April when he was running for Sir Michael Stoute in a Maiden at Bath. He was unlucky that day, losing out to Red Cardinal by a neck, Red Cardinal (now rated 102) went onto to win two more races on the spin and most recently finishing 2nd in a group 1.
Now making its stable debut for Ger Lyons, I’d expect this lightly raced gelding to go extremely close.
Jockey Colin Keane has also chosen Mawaany over stable mate Fisherman’s Blues.
Mawaany, 13/8 WIN, 2 POINTS
